Ceiling Fans

Fans are economical devices which provide an adequate amount of air to the surroundings. The number of blades in the fan is not an issue, but the curves in each blade determine the amount of air circulation. Moreover, fans are also of various types of ceiling fans, table fans, pedestal fans, etc.

The ceiling fans when newly purchased would work well and also the esteemed look of the new product would be outstanding. As time fleets, the design of the ceiling fan would deteriorate due to weathering and the accumulation of dust which happens eventually.

The performance of the ceiling fan would also start to decline. At this juncture, mechanical enthusiasts at home would take a chance in remodelling the ceiling fan. These enthusiasts might be either experts or amateurs.

They bring down this aged ceiling fan and start ripping it apart to change the blades with homemade stuff and to design it as per their wish to boost up the look and the performance of the ceiling fan. Here are some techniques which would support such enthusiasts to customize their ceiling fan. Scroll your mouse to have a glance at it.

Ceiling Fans Ideas

Painting

The first part of such ripping schedule would be painting because it is an exciting and colourful job for most of the teenagers. Painting it with a simple colour would not make sense because it would look plain.

Patterns can be painted over the blades to show a great spectrum of colours while the fan rotates. If the fan has a lamp at its doom, then visualizing perfect blending of colours would be mind-blowing. Colours can also be mixed to produce a spectral appearance of a rainbow.

Double Fan

The double fan technique is a method of building a durable shaft which runs perpendicular to the axis of the motor and parallel to the ground surface. The centre of this shaft should be fixed to the motor shaft. Now, both the free ends of the shaft would be attached with two fans with small blades.

All the three fans are connected to the power and therefore these three fans spin at the same time. The main motor rotates the other two motors, whereas the other two motors spin to circulate the air. But, if not mounted this design properly could be dangerous also. Moreover, energy consumption of this DIY ceiling fan would be high as it runs three motors.

Skateboard Design

A ceiling fan contains many numbers of parts of which blades would be easily remodelled or replaced. Unused skateboards in the barn can be dismantled from other parts like raisers, wheels and drilled appropriately with the exact measurement of the previous fan blades and fixed to the doom of the motor. But make sure about its weight and inclination before installing to the doom. Since skateboards are made of wood there is a possibility for the blades to crack and so frequent inspection of the ceiling fan becomes essential.

Encasing the Light

Many modernized ceiling fans are manufactured with the availability of the LED bulb at the doom part of the ceiling fan. When the light is switched on, due to the rotation of the fan, there is a flickering shadow of the blades which can be seen on the bed thus irritating the user’s eyes.

Switching the light OFF would not allow you to see anything even with the minimum visibility. To overcome this issue, the light in the doom can be encased inside a tempered lampshade which would not provide any such sort of irritating reflection.

High Surface Area Designs

A typical ceiling fan spins with its blades at a regular speed. What would happen if we increase the surface area of the blades? In this technique, each blade of the ceiling fan is fixed with a designed wood or synthetic material which when spins with the fan bring down the turbulent flow of air. The drag force for the fan would be high so that it can break the blades too. So, care should be taken such that it is not run at high speed.

Re-organized Blades

It involves the removal of the regular blades from its doom and just using the motor part of the fan. The centre shaft is connected to a metal frame of concentric rings. Cheap metal is cut and fixed in the place of blades which are tilted at a particular angle to maintain proper airflow. The number of the blades used would be higher in this model and also it could be dangerous also.

Comic Effect

Some comics like Batman, Superman, and Captain America have been in existence till date. Many kids and adults have a high affinity for such comics which induce patriotism and national interest in their minds. The images of the comic heroes can be stuck on the blades of the ceiling fan with illuminating stickers to see the illusion made by the stickers after the lamp is switched off.

Pulley with Motor

A typical ceiling fan is a mutated form of an ordinary motor whose speed can be adjusted with specific controls. In this technique, the doom part along with the blade serves as one part which is fixed in the ceiling just above the bed.  The other part is the motor which is fixed separately; the connection between these two parts are made with a belt which runs from the motor to the doom assembly through a pulley.

Origami Style

Origami is a floral design made with colourful papers. There are also origami techniques to develop 3d models. Such 3d models can be crafted and fixed around the casing of the doom light of a ceiling fan. It will provide a glamorous and romantic soft light around the ceiling fan.

Murals

Murals are paintings done on the walls. About ceiling fans, murals can be drawn on the ceiling which matches with the fan foreground. Windmill, helicopter, wheel of a chariot are some of the murals which would suit the scene. Moreover, 3d structures can also be employed to bring out similar output.
